SEO Techniques You May Want To Know About
Posted by Zachary Alderson in SEO on March 13th, 2010
If you are a Internet entrepreneur, you may want to invest some time in learning the ins and outs of SEO techniques. The knowledge could prove to be invaluable. Search engines are becoming the prime resource to increasing visibility to direct traffic to a web site or some other sort of web estate.
SEO is a form of Internet marketing technique that is used to include certain keywords that are indexed amongst the search engine. When someone searches for a word in a search engine, the keywords and results are picked from an array list that is indexed. It is dependent on the websites traffic results and popularity and the keyword selects the addresses from the elite chosen.
Spamming the index and keywords has long been known to many as a black hat procedure that is frowned upon by consumers and search engines. They resort to a lot of illegitimate practices which are deemed as unethical and violation of guidelines. Link farming with irrelevant keywords on websites that do not want that to happen is considered a cheat. Tampering with the algorithm of engines will result in nothing positive.
White hat strategy is the most preferred method to gain a reputable reputation and respect of consumers and companies alike. They are known to provide a value by giving relevancy to the keywords used in a search. In not so many words, they do not lead a consumer astray.
Good ethical practices should be followed to maintain the reliability of such keywords and relevancy. Black tactics are nothing but trouble and hardships for the person doing them. Sure, it is easy to do so, but will have an outcome that is more than negative. The techniques involve deception and false advertising and the engines will weed them out if they think that someone is doing it.
Get the permission of websites to use their site and place a relevant link that leads to where it implies. Many websites will allow it if you identify its purpose or provide related content that is of value. If a person gains a bad reputation, an entrepreneur may find difficulty in the venture to advertise.
Spinning articles and copying content is what is considered plagiarism. Many black hat innovators will use this as a way to save time and work around the system of algorithms. This usually results in banning the content altogether or possibly legal consequences. Use original content that is not derived from another person’s content.
Meta tagging is a way to tag websites or content that allows the user to understand its relevancy. Meta tagging the relevant content and text is appropriate but there are some who will include irrelevancy just to bring in traffic. This degrades the value of search engines and websites. Particularly, no one wants to look for something and find that they cannot find what they are searching for because of the stuffing of keywords.
SEO - Search engine optimization techniques should be routinely followed according to the guidelines. As the major search engines are cracking down on the illegitimate techniques, it is better to retain the value and respect of your techniques.

Simple SEO Techniques For Bloggers
Are you a blogger and want to direct more traffic to your site? There’s a technique for doing that, which many online entrepreneurs employ to get hits. And it’s done via SEO.
SEO is an acronym for search engine optimization. Basically, what it does is attempt to take your site to the top of the list search engines generate. And why is this important? Majority of people who look for something on Google, Yahoo! or any other search engine click on the very first item that comes up. If you can take your blog post first on that list, just imagine the traffic your site is going to get!
If you wish to gain more readers for your blogs, read on. The following are some SEO methods which, when applied correctly, will direct much traffic to your site.
In building your blog site, try to come up with a solid theme or identity. This way, those you are catering to will find your posts interesting, and your following will snowball. Such also keeps you from sending contradictory signals to search engines.
Keywords are key to take you to that top of the list. Always put your keywords in the tag section of your posts. In addition, you may also include the keywords themselves in your blog titles. For example, you wrote about a small online business you started. For sure there are also other people out there considering starting up their own business via the net. Making the title of your post into something like “How to Start an Online Business Like Mine” will sure appeal to these people.
One more thing you can do with your title is by making it click-worthy. Ask yourself: “will I be intrigued by the title I made had I been a reader?” It’s your ticket to grab everyone’s attention, read your post, and potentially read your previous ones as well.
Needless to say, it’s important for a wonderful title to be accompanied by a wonderful body. If not, its not readership or popularity you’re gaining. But bounce rates - the number of people going to your site, and immediately leaving. To be a good blogger, of course you need to be a good writer. Then you should also learn the art of placing your keywords in what you write.
When placing keywords in the main body of your blogs, never do an overkill. Not only will your readers get annoyed by the spamming approach, but your blog will look unnatural. Pro bloggers maintain their keyword use at 2-3 times. This makes it much easier for web crawlers to spot them. To make them easily spotted by readers, you can bold, underline or italicize them.
People will surely look on search engines something that’s just happened. Make sure you write something about news or current events. Do throw in other issues some people will find interesting to read: celebrity shockers, bloopers, controversial issues, eyebrow-raising stories, etc. Even silly and absurd blogs will never run out of curious readers.
You may also read other people’s blogs and place comments there. You may post links to your blogs on social bookmarking and networking sites. It may take weeks or months for you to see the effects of applying these simple SEO techniques. Be patient as it requires long-term commitment to it.
Search Engine Optimization, everyone these days are doing it. All the “cool kids” are doing it, but what about SEO software? Don’t use it because all of those “cool kids” are doing it, but because all of the “successful” ones are. Http://www.seoequalizer.com

Are SEO Company Fees Reasonable?
Posted by David Kalin in SEO on March 9th, 2010
For those of you who may be seeking the help of a search engine optimization expert or an SEO Company it’s likely that your search is going to turn up with what appears to be many different companies offering the same exact service but at very different price levels. Understanding why some may charge much lower fees than others might help you in your decision making process.
The sad fact is you get what you pay for here. The reasoning behind the high fees for these service stems from the fact that an honest and above board SEO specialist is going to have to put in a tremendous amount of labor hours if he’s going to really help your site move up the ranks in the search engines. Everything that you will need to be done from website page edits to link building is done mostly by hand and can be an extremely time consuming process for the person or company that’s doing it for you. Anyone who’s ever tried link building on their own can attest to this, and it stands to reason why so many good seo experts will charge an average of $800-$1,000 per month and even much more depending upon certain details such as time constraints which you may require and also how competitive your key phrases might be as well.
Another thing that comes into consideration is whether or not you will require them to perform other related services such as managing a pay per click campaign for you or writing new content on a regular basis. All of these things will add to your costs, naturally. Another point to mention is how small or large the agency is because someone who works as an independent specialist will likely be able to charge you less since he is doing the work himself instead of paying an employee to do it. That said however, even an independent specialist needs to charge a minimum amount for all his time spent so it’s not unreasonable to see rates in the hundreds per month, and in some cases much higher as it’s all based upon your exact needs and how many man hours the company will need to devote to your project in order to reach certain goals you may have in mind.
Having a good understanding of how much time your SEO company is going to be committing to your project each week (or each month) should be an important factor in your negotiations with any new SEO marketing service since it will dramatically effect your monthly charges. While you need to make certain that enough time is going to be devoted in order to achieve your goals you need to also make certain that you’re not being over charged for fraudulent hours you are not really getting. A good idea might be to have a weekly or bi-monthly meeting with your SEO specialist for an oral report about what exactly was performed, what progress has been made (if any) and approximately how much time was devoted to such tasks.
All things considered, an SEO company who is good at what they do and who can achieve the goals which you have set for them certainly deserves to be paid a fair wage for their time and expertise. At the same time you need to pay careful attention to the time being spent and their attentiveness to your project. The competitiveness of your specific key phrases will also have a large impact on the amount of time that is required for your project so expect to pay more for higher profile words or phrases. The more open your perspective SEO expert is to these types of discussions the more informed you can be and hopefully will help you to make the right decision for yourself in the end.

Seo for Blogs - 6 Tips for High Performance
Posted by Paul Bannister in General Marketing on March 8th, 2010
Running a blog on the Internet requires skills in writing and also skills in SEO so that you can optimize your blog for the search engines. If you don’t then no one will find you - so whats the point in writing. Now you also need to be concerned with Google Caffeine as this is measuring the performance of your site as well as the content. If you use wordpress then you know its slower than an html site and so you need to optimize it to get it ranked.
Implement these tips and your site will fly:
W3 Total Cache. If you have used wp super cache then you know all about caching pages on disk or memory so that visitor calls to your site don’t have to go to the database to retrieve the content. W3 Total Cache goes a step further, and adds gzip compression, minifies your css and js files and adds caching to the database. Its a classic one click install from the wordpress site, and will add at least 10% performance of your site. Make sure you uninstall wp super cache and any other caching or optimisation software you have.
Get Thesis - Ok a new a theme might seem daunting, but if you want your blog to be clean and seriously SEO friendly then this is one to get. It completely distinguishes your content from your design - so what? - well this ensures that evey wordpress upgrade or customisation you do is totally supported and doesn’t bring your blog down. Then you can customise the whole site for colours, styles and fancy widgerydoos to your hearts content in a point and click interface. No Coders needed.
Google Tools for the Webmaster - Google webmaster tools is the view direct from the google bot. Login here and check that 1) The bot is reading your site well, and there is no bad content. 2) Check the performance of the site is close to the dotted line. You site may not be visible straight away, and it may take a few weeks for the performance to be tracked.
PageSpeed - Google seems to be using the PageSpeed algorithm and methods to judge the performance of the site and what needs optimizing. They list PageSpeed as a recommended install and I suggest you do it. Its very simple - find it from Firefox but make sure you install firebug first. Once you are viewing your site, you can run it via the Tools - firebug menu.
Get a VPS - The next upgrade from website hosting used to be a dedicated server. Now you can get a virtual server which runs on shared hardware. Running your site on a virtual server (VPS) allows you more control on your memory and cpu power. Most importantly it allows you to take advantage of in memory caching enabled by WP Total Cache. I use Hostgator as the support is fantastic. I can go online any time of the day via chat and have an issue taken care of and believe me I’ve had issues. The nice thing about VPS implementations is that they are easily scalable, so if you become an overnight celeb by accidently twittering about the demise of Cheryl Cole you can recover quickly by extending the resources of the server to cope with the demand. You will also see more and more setup in the cloud this way.
Content Delivery Networks - A CDN stores your static data on servers closer to your visitors than your website is. So to them in terms of performance, it looks like the site is next door. This will be a massive improvement on your overall site performance and something really worth doing. Most big blogs or sites you go to have this implemented (which is the main reason they’re so fast) Akamai are the leaders in the industry, but really focus on enterprise accounts. I use maxcdn as with W3 Total Cache it took less than 5 minutes to setup. Best of all they have an offer of $10 to get going for 1TB of data (thats a lot btw).
