Do you want your sites to click and convert more for you? The peel and stick method is the answer. It’s just that this moment you’re not peeling and sticking keywords; you’re peeling and sticking targeted web sites. This way your ads more closely match the content of the websites that you’re advertising on.
You erase a web site from one ad group, insert it into a new ad group, and record an ad that matches the thinking of the people who are coming from that website or group of sites. That’s means to understand the people who are coming from those sites: their hang-ups, their psychology and their wants. Then again, that’s exactly what you do with keywords, isn’t it?
With site-targeted ads there’s no more blending results and statistics from Google, search, and AdSense visitors. When you create ads and they start to show, the comparison with other ads you’ve been showing is direct or apples-to-apples. You can equate the click-through rate of one ad with another without having to include in all of the vastly different types of places that it’s being serviced.
You’ve got a choice of multiple sizes for your ads. And it’s no surprise that the larger ad sizes will earn you more clicks. They’re more invasive, more noticeable. Tiny strip-ads squeezed in at the very top or very bottom of the page are less so, and likely to bring you a lower CTR.
On some level even the smallest image ad can get a click-through rate two to three times that of a text ad. The biggest reason for this is that visuals are continually more spontaneously convincing than mere words. Plus with image ads there’s less competition; you may be the single Google client that’s showing on a particular page.
The flip side to this is that your image ads will obtain less exposure than text ads. There’s easily no way that image ads can be presented as frequently as text ads. It’s not odd of for some image ads to draw in CTRs ten times as much as text ads with similar copy.
But even with their good CTRs, image ads get shown much less, and because of their impulse appeal, the traffic they bring in tends to be lower value and won’t convert as well to sales.
Pay Per Click Conundrum - Google the cash hole ?

Google profits are soaring and analysts are saying its stock is close to over perform in this age of stormy stock market upheavals, so why would anyone make a statement like this : Pay per click Advertising in Google is Dead.
Well it could be a little further from the truth, ha ha, but not much. In reality, Google’s stock isn’t exactly roaring ( nobody’s is at the moment ) but the latest online Neilson polls show Google with a commanding 61% of the market place and continuing its slow but relentless climb.
What is great for Google is always great for its customers too, right? Usually it is, but it’s not the customers feeling the pinch here, its the advertisers like you and me. Google’s adword system is based on a set of “highest bidder” algorithms.
So now you understand the position of those buying from Google’s keyword bidding system. The more competition is the bigger the profit for Google and the more that the bidders get raked over the coals.
Perhaps the rumor of the demise of Pay Per Click really applies to the only group actually hurt by Google’s growing popularity - those that find themselves with three times as many competitors bidding for the same keywords.
The death of adwords right? Does it make more sense now? The tool becomes less and less useful to you as the price per click skyrockets.
If more than a few of those guys don’t head right back for the bus, you and your bidding budders are going to have some cash rich competition who won’t even listen and smell the exhaust or kick the tires a bit. They are simply going to stand there and bid. Does this sound a little like corporate in the adwords game?
Deep pocketed bidders without a sense of ROI can bid certain keywords to near unreasonable prices.
Would you pay 9 dollars for the keyword phrase Internet marketing? Most of us would say this is a little pricey. A hundred clicks later, and you are almost at a thousand dollars. With a 3% conversion rate, you would need to be selling a product for 600 dollars at 50% margin just to get close to break even.
Does that sound like fun?
