Generate Website Traffic Or Become Extinct
Posted by Gill A Taylor in Traffic Generation on August 20th, 2009
There is nothing, nothing more important to your business then to generate website traffic. People who get focused traffic to their websites are people who make money online. Without it your business is dead. As simple as that.
Here are 2 example websites: Stacy created a very esthetically pleasing, that means pretty, website and spend a lot of time trying to add pictures and to get her site as user friendly as possible. The question is will Stacy generate website traffic? Well she might, over time, with effort, make a few sales.
Now let’s look at Dave’s website. He set up a basic webpage with some basic, and useful, information on his product. However Dave spends the majority of his efforts solely to generate website traffic. Will Dave strike it rich? I’m betting he will, and he’ll do it much quicker than our first lady friend example.
Online traffic does not just waltz onto your site the moment you open up for business. And that is maybe the number one reason newbies give up or don’t succeed. They never learned how to generate website traffic and then leave it up to chance or luck. We have all heard of the great stories of a new idea or product marketing itself, but in the real world we have to work a little for our caviar.
If you put aside a little time every day or week to start learning what you need to know and then start incorporating that you will strike gold eventually. Remember that even the big boys had to start somewhere and if you get a decent course or join a renowned mentorship program you will be able to generate website traffic at will eventually. So do your business a favour and start today rather than some time in the vague future.
Reporting Software for SEO Companies
Posted by George Pearson Shearsmith in SEO on August 20th, 2009
If you have a site online through which you make online transactions, then it is important that you know where you are ranked for your selected keywords. Finding out where you rank is not as easy as you might think, particularly if you have more than one website. If you only have one then you might be able to track it using manual searches, but if you have more than one site, you might try using one of the available rank finding sites online.
The problem with most of these is that they are not very accurate. They either give you results from the UK i.e. Google.com results rather than google.co.uk, or they use a different hub to draw their results from so you have no proper indication of your precise rankings at any given point.
The problem is worsened by Googles limits on the amount of searches that you can make in an hour. The limit is currently 200 in an hour. This is the same as searching four keywords and looking through the rankings up to rank 500. This will become a big problem if you have several websites with several keywords each.
The answer to these problems would be a piece of software that can automatically search through the results on your desired keywords for your specified site, while staying within Googles search limits. The ideal software will also give you information on you competitors sites, traffic reports for individual keywords, number of backlinks etc.
Most software of this nature wont do all this, let alone give you the option to white-label the software and sell it on as your own. Finding software that is accurate and dependable is very difficult, but not impossible. If you are an SEO company, your results will create the outline of your reputation, and your reports to your clients are a very important part of that process. Your clients need to be able to see genuine data that shows how hard you are working for them.
Your Clients will not understand your business as well as you do, so information needs to be provided that will help them to see improvement. Good software should allow this, so you can show your clients their ranking improvements month on month as well as the growth in link volumes which is driving the improvements for their site. Your clients will probably not understand the finite workings of SEO, but by providing some KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) you will enable your relationship with them to grow.
How To Find The Right Affiliate Product To Sell
Finding the right product to promote is essential to succeed with affiliate marketing. There are thousands of affiliate marketing products out there, but not all of them will make you money. Some products are terrible and don’t work as promised. Another product might be fantastic, but its landing page leaves something to desired so visitors are scared away. To succeed with affiliate marketing, you need to find a product that’s proven to make money for its affiliates. Why promote something that nobody is buying?
To find that right product to promote, we’re going to use the Clickbank affiliate network. While there are many good affiliate networks out there, Clickbank is one of the best for beginners. They have an enormous selection of digital products to sell, they always send your checks on time, and it is easy to get accepted into the network. Unlike other networks that make you apply to promote a certain offer, Clickbank lets you promote every offer on their network immediately.
Your first step when choosing a product to promote, is to think about a niche. The best way to do this is to brainstorm and write down five or ten niches you think you would be interested in. When creating your site around a product, you will be spending a lot of time with it, so make sure the topics you write down aren’t something that will bore you to death.
Once you have everything written down, visit the Marketplace section in your Clickbank account. Clickbank has its products separated into categories, so choose an appropriate category and perform a search for each of the topics you have written down earlier. In the search results, you will see a list of affiliate products that best match your search term. Underneath each product description, you will see a list of different metrics.
The key metric to look at, is the gravity score. Gravity basically shows you how many affiliates have made sales with this product recently. If many people are making sales with this product then this says you can probably do well selling this product as well. Usually I try and pick a product with a gravity score over 45. The other thing to look at is the dollars per sale. If you are going to use pay per click marketing to drive traffic to your product, then pick a payout greater than $30 per sale. This allows you to cover your advertising expenses and still make a decent profit.
Using the two criteria mentioned above, jot down the products that satisfy these criteria. Now pick the product that you would be most interested in learning about and selling. You already know that other affiliates are doing well with these products, so the key here is picking the product that will keep your interest so you can promote it successfully. This is the first step towards making money online.
