The Fun And Safety Of Blogging

Blogging is fun and best yet; you can write whatever content you want. Whether writing about current events or family happenings, blogging is a great way to let others know what you are thinking, feeling and doing.

Blogging has become an increasingly popular way to keep in touch with family and friends. When you want to know what someone has been up to you can just log onto their blog and hear all about Patrick’s first words or see pictures from Williams first T-Ball game. Although it is a fun way to communicate, there are some things that you need to be aware of.

The first thing you need to be aware of is that if you are posting pictures or information about your family, you want to make sure your blog is password protected. If it is not, anyone can get into your blog and know all you family and personal information. This is partially bad in today’s day in age when there is so much attention being placed on protecting our children from pedophiles.

As adults, we are constantly teaching and reminding our teens about internet safety, yet we are actually more vulnerable then they are. We have little to no understanding on things like internet security and usually don’t think of it when creating our blogs or web pages. It is important to remember that if you are putting personal family information on the web, it should only be able to be accessed by an invitation or a password.

Public blogging about topics that are relevant obviously can be out there for the whole world to see, and that is what they are intended for. Whether informational, or rants, you can put whatever you want on the web.

Make sure that the information makes sense, but even more importantly perhaps, be careful that you are not using your cute little blog to put your children at serious risk. Remember the web is accessible to all, so don’t put specifics about your family in blogs that everyone can see. You are just asking for trouble if you do.
