Proven SEO Tips

Your title tells it all. Clients look at the title of the website to reference on what they are looking for. Make sure that your site title contains the keywords that are essential so that search engines will immediately have a location on your site. Just a tip: Make a shorter yet a keyword-matching title.

Include keyword in Domain name using hyphens if necessary. This doesn’t mean having a domain name like keyword-keyword-keyword.com try to stick to the one hyphen and not read as spammy. A good example is a site that sells wheelchair ramps with the URL of the site being www.dogtraining-guide.co.uk

Write great unique content. Great content is where it all starts. You can have all the keywords in the world, but if your content is no good, people won’t stick around on your site and search engines won’t find your site valuable. Unique content is important too. You need to provide content that has different information than what is on other sites and other Web pages.

META Tags. A lot of search engines these days don’t use META tags anymore, but they can still be helpful. Especially the robots.txt file which you will need to create a tag for to let the spider know where on your server it is created. This should be in your server’s root or home directory.

Provide relevant content. Put as many appropriate and relevant contents as you can in order to have a higher chance at ranking better. People who search for products on a website do price comparisons and research first. So therefore you should include features and contents that will attract the searcher. Once the searcher is impressed, he/she will stick to your website and eventually buy your product.

Time your page for its loading speeds. Remember, though a graphic image looks really good on your site, its hateful if your visitors have to wait hours for it to load. You may be using a high speed connection, the whole world doesn’t. Your page has to be quick to load.

Site-maps have become important in the past few years because it tells search engines about all of the pages on your site. This will help the search engine spider thoroughly index all of the pages on your site. If you do not want certain pages to be indexed, but still wish to display that page in your Site-map you may exclude the page in your robots.txt file.
